08001

08001

08001. In 2007, few words are needed to present the project 08001. First created as a workshop or work in progress, they now consider themselves a group of musicians in constant evolution and are open to artists of different parts of the world who arrive each day at the Raval district in Barcelona.

More than 5 years have passed since 08001 started their career. The project name stands for the zip code of the first quarter of Barcelona: the emblematic district named Raval. Their headquarters’ location, the studio where they practice and record their music, has not changed, preserving the authentic sound.

Canteca de Macao

The nine members of Canteca de Macao represent the emergent multiculturalism born, raised and developed in the streets. Their musical style can be translated into a mix of rhythms such as rumba, ska, reggae and flamenco, that have allowed and inspired the creation of their first album “Cachai?”, achieving great success under the public of the cross-over style.

Jaleo Real.

Jaleo Real: musicians of street rumba coming from Barcelona. Their lyrics reflect the experiences of everyday life and are a hymn to the popular aspects and the pleasures of life. That’s why they are, as they like to say themselves, a group of “Combat Rumba”, featuring various influences from pure rock&roll to flamenco. Their music plays with elements of Reggae, Charleston, Argentinian Tango, Cuban son or African music.

Che Sudaka.

In the street academy, teachers play together with their students and the most regular ones are always the most resistant ones. That’s where all began. Che sudaka now travels around the world invited by prestigious festivals in Europe and South-America. Leo, Jota, Marcelo, Chafaz and El Cordobés are scheduled to play again at the Street Festival of Benahávis.

El Puchero del Hortelano.

Musicians of rumba, rock and flamenco, their songs go about love and falling out of love, among others. Almost ten years on stage, three albums, many concerts, some awards and now preparing  春卷 (Harumaki). This is not Chinese, but Japanese, and it’s the name of their fourth album. However not for sale yet, we are sure that the band will tell us something when performing at the Street Festival of Benahávis 2007. Last year they were the last performance of the Street Festival and we want more!

Maui:

Maui comes from the Seville town of Utrera but breathes the air of Albaicín de Granada. The art of  ‘Bambino’,’Bernarda’ and ‘los Montollas’ runs in her blood, as well as the grace and self-confidence of ‘los Centellas’. She is capable of playing another genre of flamenco. If you want a taste of El Flamenco Sumergido (Submerged Flamenco) of Maui y los Sirenidos do not just imagine it, feel it! Come and join the fun!

El Sombrero del Abuelo:

Time has passed since their first steps through the streets of the Lavapies district. Raúl (voice, guitar, lyrics) and Juancho (percussion, background vocal) got to know each other in this central and intercultural district of Madrid and created the band, later joined by Juancho and Danilo, members of Canteca de Macao and Alex, Chema, Rodrigo and Demetrio. El Sombrero del Abuelo is a fusion band with a touch of street rock-flamenco.

Tanta Trampa.

This band of batuque music comes from Málaga and is well known for the visitors of the Street Festival of Benahávis as they are taking part for the third time. Possessed by the rhythms and with their shoulder-drum, they combine samba from Rio de Janeiro with funky rhythms. The Cuban son and Reggae form part of their typical Andalusian songs. A new aspect in their shows is the use of wind instruments and guitars.

Los Aslándticos

Los Aslándticos began as a group of friends coming together in the old cement factory Asland to play and sing some of the songs which now form part of their repertoire. This group from Córdoba with its producer Manuel Ruiz “Queco” (Disparate Records) mixes passionate lyrics with reggae and Andalusian music style. Known for their fresh and energetic live shows in which they stand open for any kind of music style.

Ganjazz

Ganjazz, multi-faceted musicians, formerly part of different groups playing hard rock to jazz, afro, hip-hop, etc … Forging ahead, they create a project in which they combine all their musical and personal affinities. After quite a few difficulties, a unique group with huge promises for the future is born. Each one of the musicians contributes to the success of the band. Don’t miss them at the Street Festival of Benahavís.

Tactequeté

They combine wind instruments and percussion into atmosphere, rhythms and melodies within special creative music scene.

Humor and the staging’s visual appeal create a favourable atmosphere for this outstanding musical show. Drums and flutes of various origins, instruments made up of recycled material, everyday objects with numerous sounds effects, steel drums, whistling, bass … including seeds and winkles are used to create some exotic rhythms full of warmth and color.

In the street: Music and street bands

Roaring Emily Band

Roaring Emily Band. The Italian Sextet that combines traditional jazz of New Orleans with a good dose of Roman humor. The show can be defined as “Street Cabaret”. The band has participated in numerous festivals in Italy and abroad and visits Spain for the first time. They won the Audience Award and the Critics Award. Trumpet, clarinet, trombone, tuba, banjo and drums are the elements of this funny band.

Von Trolley

The Von Trolley Quartet was created in April 2004 in Austria and is composed by four musicians who combine humor and cheerful music with an amusing show.

“Instrumentos Folk” performs a circus show that entertains any type of public.

New Orleans Jump Band

The New Orleans Jump Band was created 15 years ago and from its very start has remained true to its attempts in bringing the most genuine New Orleans sound to the most remote corners of the planet.

The band has earned great fame because of its street parades, one of its many features in which they parade amongst the spectators, move around the tables, play and sing in the middle of groups of spectators or on the streets strolling with passersby. They also participate in all sorts of events.

circus, magic and theatre

“Miguelillo”

Miguel Romero “Miguelillo” has the name of a bullfighter but is probably the magician with the most promising future in Spain in the world of magic because of his talent and good humor. He initiated his studies in the Ana Tamariz Magic School, he trained at the Carampa Circus School and completed his education following high-level magic specialization courses in Buenos Aires. In spite of his young age, Miguelillo is a professional recognized for his good stage presence. He has realized more than 1000 performances throughout Spain.

Circo Culipardo

Marta and Javi will carry out their very first circus shows on the street. This was a great hippie-punky-self-taught experience with magic, disappearing objects (especially in large department stores!) etc.

But there came a time in which they decided to create a serious formation. These artists have already given shows over five years now, strolling streets, theatres, circuses and squares throughout Spain exhibiting this amusing show.

New Circus:

Show of a particular couple, Odin and his seven-year old daughter. Circus, juggling acts, balancing acts and especially humor. Odin trained in the streets of Buenos Aires while his professional education starts in 1992 in the Gymnastics and Fencing School of Buenos Aires. From there onwards, he discovers the circus world at the side of “Chacobachi”, the street clown better known throughout South-America. At last year’s Street Festival of Benahávis, his show was considered as one of the best in the discipline of Circus and Street theatre.

The little Ula Cicus

Attention! Attention! The Little Ula Circus arrives at your city, town, neighbourhood, street or square with all the thrills of a genuine circus!... The only thing is that it is so small it fits into a suitcase. For this reason trapeze artists, elephants and others have been left out. But there is still room for: jugglers! Acrobats! Magicians! A panther! (¿?) And of course, the Clown is present in all the shows.

El espejo negro

"los perros flauta"

El espejo negro. Los Perros Flauta.

“Los perros flauta” take on the look of the underprivileged in our society, of the thugs, of the homeless people. Because of his subtle intuition, Calvente, director of the company “El espejo negro (the black mirror) can change a show that was only meant to pass a good time into a profound performance with two or three different interpretations…

Foc a les Mans

Foc a les Mans present the show “A burning lounge” combining pyrotechnics and fire elements. Their stage is a Street Lounge. Their protagonists are two crazy women.

In this lounge, everything is burning! Different fire elements come together while they dance on the rhythm of lifelong songs.

"Un salón en llamas"

Casi que si

"Queen for a day"

Casi que si

Alaska, Tangier, Pepi’s wedding … and now the STREET FESTIVAL OF BENAHAVÍS. The most keenly anticipated concert of the season: right here, right now.

A foolish person called Fredito Mercurio, appears from nowhere and knows how to move people. He and his manager conceive the funniest ideas and use the most surprising special effects in order to offer us the greatest show of Rock ever.
